Due to the exponential scaling of Soulons in the game, it is generally good to buy the best upgrades available.
Unlike in the original Flash game, upgrading your home only increases XP multiplier, rather than Soulon gain. Investing in the museum can help greatly throughout the game by providing a passive income while you do other activities. Soulons can be spent on each of the following:

You can reset your skills at any time when not in battle for free (see the reset button on the top righthand side) and it's highly recommended you try different builds, especially when you're facing a difficult battle. You unlock Omnisoul when you achieve rank Soulmaster (the 6th rank) on any stat. You unlock more skills and the ability to invest more points in those skills as you level up in those stats. SUPER and MEGA abilities can be different depending on the skill, but most are just a damage modifier. The active skills have a SUPER (unlocks at level 3) and a MEGA (unlocks at level 5) ability. In the skill tree, the skills are divided into the 5 stats and into active (large square) and passive (smaller circle) skills.
